Reading is one of the best ways to gain knowledge. List are below are books I have read and how these books have impacted my personal and professional development.

The World Is Flat

By: Thomas L. Friedman

The World is Flat tells how in the 21st century the world is transforming from corporations globalizing to individuals globalizing. After reading the book in the summer of 2016, I realized the ways in which individual globalizing changes the value and impact one person can make to the world. Their imprint breaks well-established ladders, flatting the world. As a result, individual’s ideas and cultures intertwine to invent a growing age of prosperity and create a need to accept other’s differences. I believe progress through change is inevitable and this transformation allows for inclusion in conjunction with raising the standard of living.

Lean In

By: Sheryl Sandberg

I have always held very strong and deeply rooted opinions about the nature of women inequality in the work place. The world does not give women the same opportunities nor rights as men. Society has reached a point to wear they understand there is a need for change. However, culturally women are still not given the same opportunities. Sandberg’s book, Lean In gives shows the difficulties women face and how they have to combat the current culture. Understanding the difficulty women have to gain respect in our society allows me to be more aware of how my action play a role into creating fair opportunities.
