Many things in life catch my eye, but a few inspire me to turn them into passions. My interests cross over to passions when I cannot stop myself for want more, more to learn about them and grow from them. Passions give me a purpose. Purpose to learn, to teach, and to better the world, thus continuing to grow.

Personal Growth

2016

This fall I finished my entering to become a Divemaster. Earning the title has been a four-year process, filling up my free time in between school and my other extracurriculars. After completing my training, Texan Scuba hired me and I am now a part of their elite team. We teach entry-level students up to the instructors themselves. I started diving as a hobby but very quickly began to spend all my free time under water. Being a

Divemaster, I never stop growing. I am continuously learning more about diving. The courses never stop. There are hundreds of certifications out there for diving. As a Divemaster, I teach a few scuba diving courses myself and help Instructors teach additional courses. I learn every day from my students. I am lucky that many of my students are from different backgrounds and experiences. Now professionally, I must network and retain the students in my network to gain more consumers. In this line of work, it is not about the money. Diving is about experiencing something so rare to man, the underwater world, and I want to pass that unique and rare experience onto others. I know my bosses and the company I work for have the same goal: teaching the new wave of divers for their gain.

2017

Part of my Divemaster work of helping students and teaching them Scuba, I am give the opportunity to meet incredible people. A few weeks ago, I worked with my instructor to teach an advance course and a rescue course. My instructor and I were teaching the Texas Game Warden Dive Team’s newest members. There was four new members. All of who are incredible people and police officers. The objective of our train was two parts. One part was to get them more comfortable in the water and with their equipment. Secondly, our goal was to teach and train many lifesaving techniques. These men take all of their training very seriously. These men’s main job are to do the dirty work for all of Texas. The dirty work for the Dive Team is the recovery of individuals for the State. They are the ones who bring closer to families. After training these Game Wardens, they are now more equipped to handle diver and water related

emergencies. I am writing about my experience at work because I love what I do. I love what I do because even though it might not be much, I believe in passing on my knowledge. My work gives me the opportunity to work and train individuals who make a difference in Texas. These men were on the front lines to help Harvey victims trapped in their homes. The training they received help them in the dangerous situations they face on daily bases. After Harvey, the dive team is now busier than ever. My work has a purpose greater than myself. Although I talk mostly about the professional side of Scuba with the state police, teaching recreational divers can be just as exciting and meaningful. Give someone the opportunity to be diver is an incredible job. I help give people a chance at an entirely different view on the world, a view underwater.  I am now discovering how important passing on my passion is to me. I never would have thought I would spend so much time teaching others instead of exploring the oceans for my own personal pleasure. When the time is right, I will have to become an instructor to both further advance my train and be able to give more to my students.
